As a celebrant I really do have the dream job! Every day is an adventure and honestly never feels like work.
I am an accredited wedding celebrant with Humanists UK and I take huge pride in my role as a celebrant. I constantly update and perfect my craft and am fortunate enough to be part of a global network of celebrants who share ideas and work in a collaborative manner. Each wedding ceremony that I am chosen to conduct is an absolute privilege and I delight in getting to know every couple and turning their ideas into a memorable ceremony.
I trained as a celebrant in 2019 (best decision ever!) and will begin the 2024 wedding season writing my 150th ceremony! I have been a finalist in the celebrant category of Northern Irish Wedding awards on three occasions and was runner up celebrant of the year in 2022.
Weddings are my passion and probably obsession! I believe a wedding should be a journey not just a destination. I encourage couples to enjoy the fun of the preparation, delight in choosing THE dress or suit, savour the menu and cake tasting, spend happy hours together finding the dream honeymoon and ponder over all those personal touches for these will become part of the happy memories of their wedding.
Apart from being a celebrant I am extremely lucky and have my own tiny boho wedding venue, Runaway Irish Weddings. I love my role as a wedding planner and helping couples plan their dream wedding.
Before I was a celebrant? I grew up on the west coast of Scotland with my three sisters, wonderful Danish mother and father who was a farmer. Before I became a celebrant I was a mum, rode horses semi professionally both in the UK and abroad and then latterly worked as a nurse primarily in oncology. I am now very happily settled in the beautiful South Down countryside close to the shores of Strangford Lough.
I share my life with my family, three completely mad Portuguese Water Dogs and also two cats with attitude. My children make me proud almost every day. They have rewarded me with amazing grandchildren…both two legged and four!
Things I love? A good old fashioned family Christmas and snow! The promise of spring and longer days which merge into summer. I have developed a passion for gardening much to my surprise and am constantly evolving the gardens at our tiny wedding venue .I also love spending time with family, enjoying the odd lazy Sunday lunch with friends or family with a good bottle of red! Running my own tiny boho wedding venue. Life.
Feel free to leave me a message or give me a call to set up a date so we can talk about your dream ceremony.
